The "What & Why" of Flexibility
Understanding the mechanics of your body is the first step toward lasting wellness. Our approach to assisted stretch therapy focuses on identifying tight muscle groups and applying precise techniques to release tension. By addressing the root cause of stiffness, we help you achieve a range of motion you never thought possible. Schedule your assessment now.
What exactly is "assisted stretching" and how does it work?
Assisted stretching is one-on-one, guided stretching where a trained professional (Stretch Tech) moves and stretches your body for you. Instead of you guessing how to stretch or forcing positions, they do the work while you relax. At Stretch U, we combine assisted stretching with myofascial release (similar to sports massage) to maximize your results.
What is the difference between assisted stretching and a deep tissue massage?
Assisted stretching involves a practitioner actively moving your muscles and joints to increase range of motion whereas deep tissue massage is more focused on pressure and tissue health. At Stretch U, we combine assisted stretching with myofascial release which is very similar to a deep tissue massage. This allows our clients to reap the benefits of both soft tissue health and muscle flexibility.
Why can’t I just stretch at home? What is the benefit of having a partner?
You can stretch at home — and we encourage it. However, there are 3 main advantages to stretching with a partner. 1. A partner can help you stretch correctly ensuring you're feeling the stretch where you're supposed to and not injuring yourself. 2. A partner can use leverage and angles to help you push farther into a deeper range of motion than you can on your own. 3. With a partner, you can do PNF stretching, a contract-relax sequence that works with the nervous system to override the stretch reflex and achieve greater flexibiliy.
How is Stretch U different from yoga or Pilates?
Yoga and Pilates are great movement practices, but they require you to actively move and hold positions. At Stretch U, you’re on the table being stretched by a trained partner. We do the work for you, so your body can fully relax and safely improve mobility, flexibility, and joint range of motion — even on days you’re sore, tight, or fatigued.
Is assisted stretching considered a medical treatment or physical therapy?
No- assisted stretching at Stretch U is not considered a medical treatment or physical therapy. While Stretch U's protocol was developed by a physical therapist and we have helped thousands of people with various conditions over the years, you should always consult with a medical professional for treatment of any serious injuries.
The Stretch U Difference
Trusting someone with your physical recovery requires confidence in their expertise. Our practitioners are highly trained in myofascial stretch therapy, ensuring every movement is safe, effective, and tailored to your unique physiology. We pride ourselves on a supportive environment where your comfort and progress are our top priorities. Experience the professional difference today.

Preparing for Your Session
We believe that clarity eliminates barriers to wellness, so we have streamlined our logistics to make your visit seamless. From what to wear to how to check in, we ensure every detail is covered before you even walk through our doors. Feel prepared and empowered to focus entirely on your recovery and relaxation.
What should I wear to my Stretch U appointment?
We recommend athletic wear, stretchy material, nothing restrictive. Sweatpants, leggings, shorts, t-shirts are all great. Bonus points for grippy socks. If possible avoid jeans, belts, dresses, skirts, bulky jackets, and restrictive layers.
Do I need to be flexible to come in? (What if I can't touch my toes?)
Not at all. You don’t need to be flexible to come to Stretch U — that’s literally why people come in. Whether you can touch your toes or not, we meet your body where it’s at and work within your comfort level.
Will the stretching be painful?
No — stretching at Stretch U should never be painful. Some areas may feel more sensitve than others based on where your tension lies but we always work within your comfort level and check in with you throughout the session. We help your body relax into the stretch and "absorb" the pressure, not fight it.
Is the stretching done in a private room or an open floor plan?
Stretch U is an open floor with semi-private stations. We do this on purpose — it creates a laid-back, professional atmosphere instead of a closed-off, clinical feel. Each client still has their own table and space, but the open layout lets spouses or friends stretch together and keeps the energy relaxed and welcoming.
How long does a typical session last?
A typical session at Stretch U lasts for 20, 40, or 60 minutes. 20 minutes includes a full body stretch. 40 minutes includes the full body stretch + our myofascial release. 60 minutes includes the full body stretch + myofascial release + targeted vibration with the massage gun.
Do I need to tip my Stretch Tech?
Tipping your Stretch Tech is always greatly appreciated. Our Stretch Techs work hard to deliver exceptional bodywork and customer service and every bit of gratuity helps!
Targeted Relief and Recovery
Many clients seek us out when traditional methods fail to provide the relief they need. By utilizing full body assisted stretching, we target specific pain points and accelerate the body’s natural recovery process. Whether it’s chronic discomfort or post-workout soreness, our empathetic team provides the specialized care required for long-term health and peak physical function.
Can assisted stretching help with lower back pain or sciatica?
Yes- assisted stretching can absolutely help with lower back pain and sciatica. Lower back pain often stems from tight hamstrings and hips pulling the pelvis out of alignment while sciatica is often caused by a tight piriformis compressing the sciatic nerve. With consistency, assisted stretching will relieve tension in all of these areas to address both the symptoms and the underlying cause.
Is Stretch U safe for seniors or those with limited mobility?
Yes — assisted stretching at Stretch U is absolutely safe for seniors and people with limited mobility. We meet each client where they are and tailor every stretch to their ability, comfort level, and goals. Our Stretch Techs adjust positioning and intensity so you move safely and effectively.
Does assisted stretching help with specific sports like golf or running?
Yes — assisted stretching is great for sports like golf and running because it improves mobility in the areas those sports rely on most. For golfers, we focus on hips, thoracic spine, and shoulders for better rotation. For runners, we target hips, hamstrings, calves, and ankles to support stride and recovery.
Is it safe to get stretched if I am recovering from a surgery?
While we have worked with tons of clients post surgery over the year, it is always recommended to get clearance from your doctor or surgeon first. Even if you're recovering from a surgery, we will always tailor the stretch to your ability, comfort level, and goals.
Can assisted stretching help improve my posture?
Yes! Assisted stretching helps release tight muscles and improve joint mobility, which makes it easier for your body to hold better posture naturally. By targeting areas like the hips, shoulders, and spine, many clients notice they stand taller and move more comfortably over time. Of course, we always suggest pairing stretching with some strengthening for overall joint and postural health.

How often should I come in to see results?
For best results, we usually recommend coming in once a week. That consistency helps your body gradually improve mobility, reduce tension, and build lasting flexibility. Some clients add a second session if they’re recovering from injury, dealing with chronic tightness, or training for a sport.

I'm so glad I finally tried Stretch U! I am a professional Massage Therapist, plus I lift heavy weights with a trainer 2 hours a week. I have had trouble finding a massage therapist skilled and knowledgable enough to give me the deep work that I need. So I tried Stretch U, and it has been a great addition to my self care routine. Since I added stretching sessions I am less sore from my workouts and work, and I'm sleeping better!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Stretch U!!!! I’ve been getting stretched for about two months now and my flexibility is almost 100% restored!!! The stretch members know their stuff! Although, I’ve been partial to Cameron; I believe ALL of the stretch staff members are equally awesome!

The staff are very professional and excellent at what they do. Stretch U is much better than a sports massage or Physcial Therapy session. Stretch U heals the body better and helps those deteriorating joints. Kyle was our technician and does an excellent job healing our bodies! Try it, you'll appreciate it.

After having two stretch sessions with Jordan, I feel so much better. I was not sure what to expect as I had never been to a “stretch” session before. Jordan made me feel very welcome and comfortable. He is very professional. A great technique with much improvement after the very first stretch.
