Understanding Back Pain

Anatomy of Motion does a great job illustrating one of the most common causes for lower back pain. Simply put, to move freely, we need to be able to rotate our bodies. Most of this rotation should come from the hips. When the hips stiffen, the body will compensate and rely on the lumbar region. Excessive movement at the lumbar region comes at the cost of decreased stabilization which often leads to pain.

How Assisted Stretching Helps With Back Pain

  1. We use a Myofascial Release technique to bring circulation and healing to the affected area.
  2. We decompress the spine by stretching key muscle groups that support the pelvis and proper posture. These include the hip flexors, glutes, hamstrings, adductors, and more.
